Dr. S. M. Akbar at present engaged as Managing Director and CEO of a joint venture financial institution. He is having a long experience of over 40 years in Corporate and Investment Banking with different International Banks in different countries of Asia and Europe. He has developed in-depth experience on Micro/SME financing activities across Bangladesh.

Having PhD in Finance and MBA in International Finance, he has long experience in organizing new ventures, salvaging sick industries and turnaround of projects/ventures from crisis situation. Dr. Akbar is active and held positions with different Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Bangladesh. He is a part-time faculty member for MBA courses of different universities of Bangladesh on Banking and Finance. He also authored of a number of articles with various local journals and newspapers. He is an active member of various Social organizations and different Trustee boards in Bangladesh. He has received various award including Gold award from different organization for his contribution. He is a widely travelled person in Asia, Europe and America.
