
MR. GHULAM RAHMAN
DIRECTOR
Mr. Ghulam Rahman is a distinguished former civil servant with approximately four decades of dedicated service across statutory commissions, ministries, departments, public corporations, embassies abroad, and educational institutions. His extensive civil service career encompassed a broad spectrum of roles, including law enforcement, administration, development, regulation, and monitoring. He actively collaborated with the private sector to promote public-private partnerships, significantly contributing to national development initiatives.
Mr. Rahman served as Secretary to the Ministry of Commerce, as well as the Ministries of Shipping, Rural Development and Cooperatives, the Local Government Division of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, and the Prime Minister’s Office. Additionally, he held the position of Additional Secretary in charge of Banking at the Ministry of Finance. Throughout his tenure, he was highly regarded for his ability to foster a harmonious and efficient work environment, coupled with a strong talent for consensus building.
Mr. Rahman commenced his career in the Finance Service Cadre of the Civil Service in erstwhile Pakistan in 1970. Prior to joining the government service, he was a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Dhaka. He retired from government service in 2004.
Following his retirement, Mr. Rahman was appointed Chairman of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) in 2007 and later served as Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) from 2009, completing his four-year tenure in June 2013.
Currently, Mr. Rahman holds the position of President of the Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) and serves as Vice-President of Anjuman Mofidul Islam. His vast experience and leadership continue to play a pivotal role in advancing various national and social initiatives.
