MR. RAJIV PRASAD SHAHA

Mr. Rajiv Prasad Shaha is a distinguished Bangladeshi entrepreneur and philanthropist, leading one of the country’s oldest and most respected charitable organizations, the Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal (BD) Ltd. For the past 24 years, he has served as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Trust, continuing a legacy of social service and community development established by his grandfather, Rai Bahadur Ranada Prasad Shaha — one of Bangladesh’s greatest philanthropists. Founded in 1947, the Kumudini Welfare Trust dedicates all income generated by its business ventures to support the welfare of the underprivileged, notably running a 1,050-bed free hospital since 1944.

Beyond his role at Kumudini Welfare Trust, Mr. Shaha holds prominent positions in several corporate and educational institutions. He is the Chairman of R. P. Shaha University and the Managing Director of Kumudini International Institute of Medical Sciences and Cancer Research Limited (KIIMS CaRe) and Kumudini Pharma Ltd. Additionally, he serves as a Director on the boards of Reliance Insurance Ltd. and LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Ltd.

Mr. Shaha is actively engaged in various business and professional organizations. He is a member of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI); the France Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFB); the Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DBCCI); the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF); the Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA); and the World Crafts Council, Asia Pacific Region.

A commerce graduate from the University of Dhaka, Mr. Shaha combines his business acumen with a strong commitment to social responsibility. His areas of expertise include finance, diversity, global business, leadership, technology, and corporate governance. An avid golfer and a well-traveled individual, Mr. Shaha embodies a unique blend of entrepreneurial spirit and compassionate leadership, striving to create lasting social impact in Bangladesh.
